Dog adoptions in Italy – A necessary choice
Save the Dogs’ adoptions in Italy resume thanks to our collaboration with Fondazione Squadra 4 ZampeIt was the middle of the night and Eva and her babies were wandering around fearfully on one of the highway roads in Cernavoda, Romania, with cars whizzing past them at high speed.
When we approached them, they were very jittery, but after offering them some food and with a lot of patience we succeeded in taking them to Footprints of Joy at our shelter, where they received all the care and support they needed to recover.
After completing the rehabilitation process, they are now ready to be adopted: in Italy!
Our collaboration with the Squadra 4 Zampe Foundation
The dogs that are staying at Footprints of Joy will have the opportunity of being adopted in Italy from this November, as we have resumed our adoption channel in Italy, thanks to a new collaboration with Fondazione Squadra4Zampe Onlus.

This non-profit organization was founded in 2011 and is based in Vairano, halfway between Milan and Pavia. At present, they work alongside different private and public organizations, supporting animals in need, carrying out educational and informational initiatives, guiding dogs through personalized training programs, and promoting informed adoption practices.
The ‘4 Zampe’ (‘4 Paws’) team will welcome our dogs in Italy and look for the perfect family to adopt them.
Why are we resuming the adoption process in Italy again?
The collapse of adoptions in Germany and Sweden has forced us to re-establish the Italian adoption program after many years, albeit with a number of differences.
The dogs that come to Italy will be carefully selected from our medium and small-sized residents and will be extremely sociable, making it possible to find adoptive families as easily as possible.
The goal is to ease the pressure on our shelter in Romania, so that we can take in new animals who are in need of our help.
To find out which of our dogs will be coming to Italy, follow their story on our social channels and on those of Squadra4Zampe Onlus.
