Santévet, a leading provider of pet health insurance, and Save The Dogs and Other Animals, the foundation dedicated to the protection and well-being of abandoned and mistreated animals, are pleased to announce their new partnership.

The collaboration was unveiled at an inaugural event held at Santévet’s Milan-based offices, with the establishment of the city’s first  “Neighborhood Community Support” dedicated space, where the company employees will collect essential goods for animals belonging to people in need in the community.

“Collaborating with Save The Dogs presents us with a tangible opportunity to make a real difference, reaching out to those in need and their four-legged companions. This marks the start of a lasting and meaningful partnership, and we are excited to see the positive change we can achieve together”, commented Claudia Mercaldi, Marketing and Communications Manager Italy for Santévet.

The project aims not only to improve the living conditions of under-privileged animals but also to forge a collective mission and uphold ethical values. Teaming up with Santévet enables Save The Dogs and Other Animals to expand its initiatives and provide even greater support to animals in need.

Sara Turetta, President of the Save The Dogs and Other Animals Foundation, said, “We would like to thank Santévet for believing in our project from the outset. This invaluable collaboration will allow us to continue and further expand our support for animals living with vulnerable individuals in Milan. We hope that many other companies will follow Santévet’s lead, creating a whole host of ‘Neighborhood Community Support’ hubs across the city.

Santévet, a French company established in 2003 that specializes in pet health insurance, has recently extended its services to Italy  and has the aim of revolutionizing and making veterinary care financing for pets accessible to all.  With two decades of collaboration with veterinarians and industry experts, Santévet offers comprehensive health coverage and all-risk insurance for cats and dogs with no breed exclusions, which is tailored to ensuring optimal and personalized offerings for every type of canine and feline species.

The “Save the Dogs and Other Animals” Foundation was founded in 2002 by Sara Turetta, a former advertising executive from Milan, with the mission of rescuing thousands of dogs during the mass slaughter in Romania. Operating in both Italy and Romania, the Foundation implements numerous projects combating the phenomenon of stray animals and advocating for animal well-being. Alongside providing emergency assistance, sterilization efforts, and facilitating international adoptions, Save the Dogs actively promotes animal welfare awareness through educational programs in schools. In 2019, the “Too Many Puppies” campaign was launched to address stray animal over-population in Southern Italy, resulting in the sterilization of over 3,000 animals. Additionally, in 2021, the “Friends on the Streets” project was introduced to assist dogs belonging to homeless individuals in the city of Milan.

More recently, with the “Neighborhood Community Support” initiative, Save the Dogs launched an ongoing solidarity campaign to support animals belonging to individuals facing hardships in Milan. The collected goods are distributed by the Foundation’s Street Unit to those living in difficult conditions who are struggling to take care of their pets. Every month, collection drives are organized at selected retail outlets or at the association’s Milan headquarters. The Santévet offices, located at n° 68, Corso Sempione, now serve as a fixed collection and support hub for all company employees wishing to participate in this project.

Santévet and Save The Dogs and Other Animals invite all animal lovers to support this important partnership and contribute to the protection and well-being of our four-legged companions.
