We are so excited to finally be able to share some wonderful news with you – Maritza has found a new home in Sweden and is about to start a new life with her adoptive family there.

Maritza’s journey was one of the most challenging we had to deal with last year. We found her abandoned on the streets of Cernavoda in Romania, and we initially thought that her situation was serious but manageable. However, after we admitted her to our clinic, it quickly became clear that her condition was much worse than we could have imagined.

She was suffering from not one but two critical illnesses, and was so weak that none of the treatments we tried out on her were effective. We refused to give up. We sought expert advice, brought in additional veterinarians, and meticulously monitored her over the course of a whole month, administering care at all hours of the night and day.

Against all the odds, Maritza somehow found the strength to fight back and has made an incredible recovery. We will never forget her first walk outside — her happiness was so contagious! Even though she was still weak from all her treatments, she played and ran around as though determined to show she wanted to make up for all the lost time.

Maritza’s transformation has been wonderful to see. Watching her bravely face new experiences, eagerly seek human connection, and fully trust her caregivers has been truly heartwarming.

This fantastic outcome wouldn’t have been possible without the support of those who believe in our work. From the veterinary treatments and training sessions to the final leg of her journey traveling to her new family in Sweden, we are so grateful to everyone who has helped along the way. A special thank you goes to Hundhjalpen, our partner in Scandinavia for over 20 years.

Thank you all!
