A group of elderly people came to visit our shelter
A group of elderly individuals belonging to an association in Costanza recently came to see us and spend a couple of hours with the animals. Here’s what happened during their visit.“Never Alone”: this is the Italian translation of Niciodata Singur, an association in Costanza in Romania that is dedicated to supporting senior citizens in Romania. A group from the organization visited Footprints of Joy, our shelter in Cernavoda, and spent an enjoyable afternoon in the company of our animals.
In Romania, vulnerable groups such as the elderly, women, children, and prisoners share many common struggles. Often lacking resources, they can be marginalized by society, much like the animals we care for.
To address this, we launched the Connecting Lives program last year, an initiative aimed at combining animal welfare with support for those in need. We have partnered with schools and the Poarta Albă Penitenciary Hospital, and we were thrilled to welcome Niciodata Singur and their group to our shelter a few weeks ago.

The visit truly encapsulated the spirit of Footprints of Joy and the name we have given to our sanctuary. For two hours, we gave the visitors a truly joyful tour of the shelter, showing them everything from the dog kennel to the equine sanctuary. Laughter and anecdotes made the time fly by, and everyone in the group left with smiles on their faces, happy to have enjoyed their adventure immersed in these natural surroundings.
The doors of our shelter will always remain open to everyone willing to embrace our animals and the joy they bring.
