Friends On The Streets, Companions For Life – Giovanni and Bingo’s story
Owning and caring for an animal can provide homeless individuals with a sense of dignity and normalcy. Pets often serve as the sole anchor to their identity and a concrete source of self-esteem.
This is definitely the case for Giovanni and Bingo.
You could easily find yourself walking past Giovanni and Bingo on the street. They are often overlooked by passersby, but theirs is a story of mutual affection and sacrifice. Giovanni, who is in his early twenties, has done everything he can to escape a difficult family background while retaining his humanity. He adopted Bingo from a shelter near Naples, and the dog has since become his family, serving as the only constant in what can only be described as an otherwise unstable existence.
Giovanni had attempted to establish a “normal” life by working in a factory near Milan, but the separation from Bingo, whom he saw only briefly in the morning and evening, was unbearable. Consequently, he decided to leave his steady job and pursue seasonal work so that he could spend as much time as possible with his pet.

He is now working as a shepherd in the Swiss Alps and plans to relocate to France in the near future. Despite the uncertainty, he dreams of having his own home: a van that would enable him to travel and live with Bingo. When Bingo had some health issues, Giovanni didn’t hesitate to ask for help. We sterilized, vaccinated, and treated Bingo, to ensure he was healthy enough to continue traveling with his companion.
Giovanni is not just a young man living on the streets; he is a sensitive person who cares for animals in need, despite his own challenges. For him, living on the streets is a choice he has made to stay with Bingo, building a future of freedom together on four wheels.
Their story is a testament to love, resilience, and hope.
