Anderson

Anderson is one of many dogs who have experienced a past marked by hardship, fear, and emotional scars, making the idea of adoption a very unlikely possibility for him in the future. However, his life has been transformed thanks to Footprints of Freedom, a special area within our shelter in Romania which has been designed specifically for dogs like him, who cannot be adopted. This area offers them a peaceful and safe environment where they can play freely.

Footprints of Freedom spans 1,500 square meters, divided into three 500-square-meter enclosures, specially created to accommodate dogs that cannot be adopted due to past trauma, yet who fully deserve to enjoy a peaceful life. Anderson, for instance, was found at just 3 months old and was terrified of loud sounds, traffic, and larger dogs. Thanks to the work of our professional trainers, he can now spend his days enjoying the tranquility of the Footprints of Freedom space.

Affectionately renamed “Ciocolată” (which means ‘chocolate’ in Romanian) because of his chocolate-colored coat, Anderson is a perfect example of how even the most traumatized dogs can thrive when given time, care, and a suitable environment. Sadly, not every animal taken in at the shelter can be put up for adoption. Some, like Anderson, may not be ready to live with a family and require long-term support.

The shelter is a transitional home for many animals in search of a new family, but unfortunately, not all of them can be given this opportunity. Some, like Anderson, stay with us for their entire lives, due to health or behavioral issues rooted in their past experiences.
