With the current slowdown in adoptions, many dogs are unfortunately compelled to spend almost a whole year at the shelter before we find them a permanent home. This long and difficult wait is particularly hard for them to endure in the confines of a kennel.

These new playgrounds, in addition to the existing ones, will allow the dogs to leave their kennels more often every week, offering them more freedom, enrichment, and essential opportunities to reduce their stress levels and better prepare them for meeting their future families.

The new areas will be located in the space behind our clinic. We will also add extra trails around the new three areas so the dogs can enjoy longer walks and have more opportunities for outdoor exploration.

These spaces are critical to improving the lives of the dogs in our care, who will now be able to leave their kennels more than once a week.

Polo is the perfect example of why this project matters so much. He came to us as a puppy two years ago, but unfortunately, we have not yet found the right family to adopt him. Timid and insecure, Polo will greatly benefit from spending time in these playgrounds, which are vital for building his confidence and improving his socialization—both with other dogs and during interactions with our staff.

We urgently need to create these spaces to improve the well-being of our residents.
