Story of the month: Canny
Canny is just a 10-week-old puppy, but his story is sadly all too similar to that of many other young animals like him. We found him wandering aimlessly in the streets of a village near our shelter in Romania. He was hopelessly confused and at risk. He was running around, probably searching for his mother, or perhaps just driven by the instinct to survive. But living on the streets is no place for such a tiny puppy.
A passerby who is familiar with our work spotted him and understand the danger Canny was in: he could all too easily have been knocked down by a car. Without hesitation, he moved the dog to safety and then contacted us. We did everything we could to find his mother in the nearby area, hoping to reunite them. Unfortunately, there was no sign of her. Canny has therefore become a resident at our shelter, with the hope that we can give him a brighter future.

Canny
Even though our shelter is at full capacity, we strive every day to overcome our space and resource limitations so that we can save the lives of dogs like Canny. For him, as for all the other residents, the new play areas we are hoping to introduce will be crucial. They will allow the dogs to go outside more often, socialize, and get better prepared for adoption. These spaces represent freedom and hope for all concerned.
This is exactly why we have launched a special fundraising campaign on the occasion of President Sara Turetta’s birthday, in order to give dogs like Canny a chance to grow, play, and learn new things. We are very close to reaching our goal of 50,000 Euros. By making a donation, you can help us create these new play areas.
These spaces will represent the first step toward a new life for a dog who, until now, has only ever experienced abandonment.
